People so expressive with materials: of cosmology, their understanding of how the world came into being, relationships between humans and deities, the afterlife, etc, view into how they understood the world. Allows us to see their cultures in ways we can"t in modern culture because we see the changes over time: which stay the same over thousands of years and also the things that change. A lot comes from elite material culture: pyramids, writings, inherent bias, political propaganda. Same kinds of rituals, religious services, etc. but on a bigger scale and with more elaborate materials. If they were trying to impose an entire new system, it would be hard to impose that on commoners, instead they insert themselves into an already existing culture i. e. we believe in your same gods, but they favor me. Unification came at the end of predynastic site of hk, which became the capital after unification.
