Document Summary

Human feet in where the wild things are. The monster with human feet was more timid than the others. People dominate monsters because they are more similar than they want. All of the monsters in the book have at least one characteristic that humans could have. Max wears a monster suit where only his face is human. Max gave the monsters human characteristics because they are in his imagination, so they appear similar to him. Authors may be giving monsters human characteristics so that children can relate better. As kids, we are taught that we are superior to animals and can therefore treat them roughly. Although max imagined a separate jungle world, human characteristics still carried over. Goat monster disappears after max tames the monsters. The same happens with the chicken monster later on in the book. Max is scared of a dragon monster in the water. The animals acquire speech when max leaves in order to depict love.
