Cyclone / anticyclone cyclone is a low pressure region (counterclockwise into a low pressure region) with accompanying surface wind and anticyclone is a high pressure region (clockwise out of a high pressure region) with accompanying surface wind. Air mass a body of air that is mainly uniform in temperature and humidity at any given altitude ascending air mass is low pressure and descending air mass is high pressure. Source regions of major air masses in north america. Fronts cause and characteristics caused by 2 air mass meeting the area over which an air mass originates is what provides it characteristics. Stationary front when 2 stationary air masses meet drawn with alternating half circles and triangles. Warm front when a warm air mass meets a slow moving or stationary cold air mass and rises above it and when it cools it forms clouds and light precipitation.
