Underdogs by mariano azuela: written in an realist form of style. Represents one aspect of revolution the northern revolution: the underdogs are not traditional villagers, they are estate workers, miners, rr workers, etc, mexican revolution = incredibly violent. Mexican revolution is a script of regional, social fragmentation: kinda reminds us of sarmiento"s upset nature of fragmented argentina. Essay by mexican writer in appendix of underdogs: no singular program or 1 mexican revolution. Revolution had no ideology or political means or intellectual frameworks. Rather the revolution is plural: vision of revolution = very nihilistic.
