Neurosis: a functional disorder in which feelings of anxiety, obsessional thoughts, compulsive acts, and physical complaints without objective evidence of disease, in various degrees and patterns, dominate the personality. Religion is a universal obsessional neurosis stemming from the repression of the sex drive. A boy is ambivalent, feeling vengeful, loving and guilty toward father. A tribe is ambivalent about ancestors, and the totem animal. Based on darwin"s theories by watching gorillas results in thou shall not murder and no adultery and no incest . God as a projection, for dispelling fear, bringing comfort, rewarding self denial, a loving father. Illusion (wanting to be true) vs. delusion (onlookers can see as untrue)
