If we look at good data and interpret it sensibly: how long are people usually in poverty, few people stay in poverty for a very long time, table do not match my personal experience, plural of anecdote is not data , the data is limited but it could be used to, measured properly, how defined, i don"t trust numbers , as a justification for not doing the hard work of engaging them, message: numbers can mislead, but they can have valuable insight, lecture was a claims making effort, college as a social problem, discrepancy between idealized version of college and actually, recent litany of problems, college are locations for high crime rates, unsafe dangerous, universities do not do enough, now have to report all crimes, binge drinking, greek life, hook up culture, little learning, unhealthy behavior, the cause of assaults and deaths, debauched, sexist behavior (in general), hazing.
