CALS 001 Lecture 9: Lecture 9
Document Summary
Its better to present simple descriptive statistics in the text, not a table. Because tables and figures supplement the text, refer in the text to all tables and figures used and explain what the reader should look for. Each table must be intelligible without reference to the text, so include an explanation of every abbreviation. Eliminate vertical lines, heading for every column, brief & explanatory title. Data in a table that would require only 2 or fewer columns & rows should be presented in the text. Numbers number all the tables with arabic numerals sequentially. They should be expressed to a consistent # of decimals. Analysis of variance tables lists the source in the stub column, then degrees of freedom (df) and f ratios. Gives the between-subject variables and error, then within-subject and any errors. Regression tables if the study is purely applied -> list only raw or unstandardized coefficients.
