Stillwell reiterates that africa"s were not willing to submit and they very much fought back. The earliest phases of conquest were violent because the states were weak. They rebel, uproot the cotton, and symbolically rebel against the colonials, and then attacked. Gives to them maji maji, water medicines, water magic.
