Qualitative data vs. quantitative data look for strong associations between a disease and risk factors that would lead to it: want a good sized sample to work with, surveys, assessments. Make sure the risk factor is modifiable: cannot focus in on independent variables, ex. Smoking number of sugar sweetened beverages someone is consuming, amount of fiber someone is consuming --- all modifiable.
