o Extends abilities that appeared in toddlerhood
▪ Toddlers: hop with both feet, climb stairs, throw
▪ Ages 2-6: hop with 1 foot, climb stairs w/o support, throw farther, better
at catching
▪ Gross motor skills:
• walking, running, kicking, skipping, climbing, catching, throwing,
swinging, riding
▪ Fine motor skills:
• self-help: dressing, eating drawing
o Changes in Kicking During Early Childhood
▪ Stage 1

▪ Stage 4
o Development in printing
▪ 18 month: power grip
▪ age 5-6: tripod grip
▪ age 4, many can write (draw) their names
▪ age 5-6, 26 letters of alphabet
