Reporters (anyone with access to mass audience, can get message out to a lot of people) Lots of people in pr don"t know what news is. Tell media/convince media their audience wants to hear about it. Employees rely on ability to make news for client/superior. Editor realizes there is a story that needs to be covered so they assign it. What appears in the news media at any giving time is the product of competition. Play= how much coverage you got and how much time. If you get a lot of plays you get promoted. Impact: how many people the story affect and how much effect. Timeliness: happening now or two weeks ago.
