Even if wolf poses a threat against livestock, still shouldn"t kill. Most of missing (unrecorded) wolf deaths are poaching. Higher risk w/ more grassland, pasture, hay. Higher risk closer to known wolf pack ranges. All models are wrong, but some are more useful than others. Both farmers and government would benefit (from predict and prevent) from being able to prevent depredation. Don"t have to deal with compensation, angry farmers, etc. Hunting, culling, poaching can be conservation methods. Claim 1 (killing wolves to conserve wolves) Killing wolves = reduce property losses and threats to human interest. Killing wolves = reduce tolerance and poaching.
