Meaning of islam : surrendering to gods law: all about an idea of wholeness within the individual; unity through submission to god"s law, a muslim is a person who surrenders to god"s law. God and the prophets: no creature can share in god"s divinity, god is all powerful, prophets are special individuals within islam; messengers from god. Abraham, jesus, david, moses, etc: mohammad is considered the ultimate prophet. It is believed that mohammad brings god"s final message to humanity; trumps previous messages. No split between law and morality they are one. Kaaba is considered to be the holiest of holy places within. Meaning of jihad : struggle in the way of god: vengeance, jihadist extremists. Often associated with acts of terrorism: can encompass an internal struggle (battling addiction) or something physical against another party. Quran was a direct revelation to the prophet mohammad; the text is considered to be the actual words of god.
