Until around high school, same age, same sex, same ethnicity, same socioeconomic status (homogeneous) typically actually stay that way. Same beliefs about school, college (future plans), substance use, manners. Influence what you wear, what music you listen to, how you spend money, how you spend free time, etc. Really difficult to switch cliques: usually a significant reason. If they do, always go to a different one (usually within the same crowd) Girls: lot of conversation (talk a lot, intimacy is based on sharing) Mixed sex cliques: how to you manage difference between conversation vs doing.
