Receives sensory information from receptors in the pns and transmits it to the cns. Somatic sensory: general senses such as touch, pain, pressure, vibration, and proprioception. Motor nervous system: also known as the efferent nervous system. Sends impulses from cns to muscles and glands. Somatic motor: impulses from the cns that cause contraction of skeletal muscles. Autonomic motor: impulses from the cns that regulate smooth and cardiac muscle, as well as glands. Functional classification of neurons o o o o o o o o o o.
