Document Summary
Principles: emphasis and focal point, scale and proportion. Principles used to help us know what the artwork/design is about. We often use emphasis to create a focal point (or several focal points) Find tools that help us focus our gaze to one certain point. Typically results when one element differs from the others. Lack of a focal point is a design tool as well. The greater the contrast between one element and the surrounding elements, the greater the emphasis: creates a focal point. Contrast points out the differences in a design: and thus, emphasizes something in particular. Creating emphasis on a part of a design by separating/isolating it from the rest. Could even be an identical part but separation turns it into a focal point. Focal point does not have tot be center of design. Where you put the main point/feature of your design: center is obvious way to emphasize.
