Document Summary

Physics is the study of the science of motion. Speed: how far something will go in a certain amount of time, rate of change and distance, distance/time, example, car at cruise at 60 mph. Velocity: speed with direction, d/t, example, car at cruise control at 60 mph traveling northeast. Acceleration: change in velocity, distance/ time / (time) = distance/ time 2. Acceleration of gravity: on earth, all objects accelerate with same rate, negelect air resistance, g = 0. 8 m/s2 on earth. Is that all we need: speed, velocity, acceleration, describe how objects move thru the universe in general, but what if we want to know about the motions of specific objects, there must be more involved . Mass and momentum: mass = the measure of the unwillingness of an object to change its motion, momentum = the measure of motion of particular objects, the product of mass and velocity, p=mv.
