ENGL 1106 Lecture 6: English 1106: Examining a Rhetorical Essay

Discussion: analyzing how do they portray the monstrosity of soda and let you. Thesis: very unclear, the point of the article is to focus on rhetorical strategies instead of the actual content of the articles being compared. Evidence utilized: overuse of evidence, lots of sources were repeated and some evidence was very unnecessary. Some of the evidence wasn"t appropriate or useful towards the thesis. Essay structure: the components of the essay are there but it is unorganized and the introduction was way too long. There is a large imbalance in the paragraphs. Paragraph transitioning/flow: good transitioning but some transitions could have been smoother. Voice/originality: very original tone but a lot of times was pretty confusing. Tried to use some advanced vocabulary, which wasn"t necessary. Grammar/spelling: a few spelling mistakes and some punctuation issues. Many run- on sentences and fragments were present. Overall: essay had a few major issues and not too much content.
