These light sensitive chemicals were actually being used by others, but he was one of the first to present it. Cameras were used with kites and balloons to acquire aerial photos. Inability to control altitude and flight path presented obstacles. Transformed photos from an expensive hobby to an inexpensive and immensely popular pastime. 1884 patented the first practical roll film. 1888 - kodak camera, designed specifically for roll film. 1892 established the kodak company, one of the first firms to mass produce. World war 1 was an incubator for aerial photos. Very difficult due to several different things from the aircraft such as oil and fog.
