Dominion: a rule or control over a territory. A measure or number of actors in world politics or which can effectively exert power at an given time. As a coercive/hegemonic empire of indirect conquest and control with power. In the international system, this leadership excercised by a state that has the capabilities. This means primacy or leadership to fulfill this role (hegemon) Other states must then identify with relation to the hegemon. States can give consent, oppose, or remain indifferent to the hegemon. A measure or number of actors in world politics over which actor can effectively exert influence at any given time. Empire: an aggreate nation or people controlled by an emperor or a powerufl sovereign or govt. Empires are solely made of neighboring states or states far from the homeland like colonial empires. Suzerainty: a relationship in which one region or people controls the foreign policy or international relations of a tributary state, while still allowing internal autonomy.
