Operations definition describes explicitly how the concept is to be measured. The way you define a variable specific to your particular research project. Intended characteristics the conceptual property we want to measure; the quality we want to tap into through our operational definition. Systematic measurement error introduces consistent, chronic distortion into an empirical measurement. Aka measurement bias produces operational readings that consistently. Commissioned a study to see if works were more productive in higher or lower lighting. Workers productivity seemed to improve when changes were made, and slumped when the study ended. It was suggested that productivity gain occurred as result of motivational effect on workers of interest being shown in them. Unintended characteristics are souces of systematic measurement errors. Refer to factors that produce consistently inaccurate measures of a concept. The source of sme often unseen resides in the measurement of the strategy itself. Factors such as fatique, commontion, unavoidable distractions are sources of random measurement error.
