One of the primary goals for radical feminists was that the patriarchy was pervasive & normal: need to address it in area of reproductive rights, addressed legal & social/systemic barriers. Liberal feminism believed in the bad apple theory, only some aspects are bad sometimes. 2nd wave accomplishments equal pay act, title vii, a significant increase in #"s of women running for public office (not necessarily winning) Radical feminists pushed courts to address reproductive justice. Griswold v. connecticut, roe v. wade = hallmark accomplishments of 2nd wave: = severe internal backlash; liberal feminists were very upset because they did not support legal decisions of roe v. wade & griswold v. Connecticut: = severe external backlash; societal pressure against roe v. wade, national organizations joined the fight; planned parenthood, coalition. Against domestic violence, national abortions right action league. Leaders of 2nd wave: betty friedan, jane fonda, gloria steinem, alice ross.
