Human mind at birth is a tabula rasa. Human mind has innate ideas even at birth (eg. god) This was a problem on coming to america as we met these native people that did not have the same beliefs. Individual makes their environment: an interaction between maturation and experience, maturation is biological unfolding, experience is learning. Treated anna o at 21 year old hysteric- became well known feminist. Stage theory is based on self-gratification or pleasure. Stages are oral, anal, phallic, latent, and genital.
