Had to match up two circles over and over. When money is involved, it puts us into a market norm. When we use social norms, people will work harder than they would have for a market norm. Found that they won"t lower fees for elderly. But, they are likely to provide the elderly with free services (social norm: problems: Received money before they did the task. These all complicate the claim that we will work harder for social norms. Better way to put it: social norms are better than low market norms: second experiment. The results were very similar to the social norms in both conditions (large and small) Allow us to function under social norms: third experiment. large gift and sh. 50 small gift (snickers bar) Wanted to evaluate if results differ if the participants know the cost of the gift (previously working under a social norm) Returned to the results of the first trial (where money was involved)
