Document Summary
Usually the first part used to identify the person. People with positive attributes are highly rated on other attributes. If someone is pretty, they have lots of other positive traits. And vice versa (can be called the horns effect) If they"re funny/intelligent, then they are more attractive. If someone seems displeased at first, you assume they"re grumpy. Posters in the room upon first meeting extend to drug involvement, positive/negative disposition. Meeting in class vs meeting at a party. In class, you don"t immediately assume that they go out all the time. The most accurate form of making a first impression. Most recognize that their first impressions are incorrect regardless. But, we tend to hold on to the impression. Failures are related to some internal personality trait. People are extremely likely to believe the behavior of someone else (that is performing the behavior) represents an internal personality characteristic. Even when they know the person had no choice.
