A low lying area next to a river that is made up of river sediment that is subject to flooding. Where are the areas that can get flood insurance and the areas that cannot. Build up the ground, pull sand from under the water to rebuild the beach area. Will not solve the problem because the water can continue to wash the sand away. Using large boulders as a boundary to try and keep the water out of the flood plain. This is not good because it makes more floods in other people"s land further down the line. The other person can now sue for a nuisance. Retreat move away from the river bed and a little outside of the flood plain. 3505 et seq coastal barrier resources act of 1982. What are the geographic features we are taking about and why are they important. Section 2b discusses why they made this.
