Document Summary

Women use i (as opposed to we) more than men. Women use shorter verbs than men (start vs. commence) And so does trump, so trump speaks like a woman. For starters, these speech features are patterns of informal speech, not gendered language. Obama had a good relationship with the media. According to the chronicle of higher education, obama was committing a sexist microaggression. Men do not give verbal recognition of the contributions in the conversation made by women. To understand this, we need to look at 2 factors. Topic 1: the representation of gender in language. Terms: gender and sex (unger and crawford, 1992) Sex: a biological condition, i. e. , defined as a set of physical characteristics. Gender: a social construct (within the fields of cultural and gender studies, and the social sciences) Usage of the term gender began in the 1960s-1970s appearing in the professional literature of the social sciences.
