Lynch"s city types (layouts) (has nothing to do with type of buildings, size of city, shape of buildings) Cosmic: faith or leadership or some common shared value, ideology in a city, i. e. washington, dc based around congress + white house. Three things typically measured in terms of: beautiful. Value: show how beauty changes/stays the same over time, show how usefulness/e i. e. renaissance center in detroit, useful- workplace, beauty- architecture on building, humane- has emotional connection w/ detroit citizens. Defines difference between america/europe due to differences in cultural values.
