Although his light skin makes him one of the world"s minorities, the white child learns from his books that he is kingfish. This is important in the understanding of the impact all-white children"s books can have on white children. These children"s books give young, white children, especially male children, the idea that they have authority over most. Some books give a false idea about reality in which the children come to a rude awakening when put into the real world and realize that it is nothing like they learned through their books as a child. A lot of children"s books completely exclude children of color, giving any child who reads the book a wrong idea of life: myers quote - page 2.
