Populaion- 36million people, 1/9th populaion of us, but is growing slightly quicker than us. Nearly 90% of canadians live within 100 miles of us border, 22 million are in ontario or quebec and within these provinces most live in a narrow area of land. 401 corridor- windsor to quebec city, 80-90% of. Ontario/quebec populaion, thus about half of all canadians. Horseshoe- about 8. 8 million (1 in 4 canadians). The fastest growing provinces are bc & alberta. Other province"s populaions are growing slowly or stagnant. Newfoundland is back to populaion levels of 1980s ater losing nearly 10% of people. Closeness to us in populaion distribuion means that the us is very inluenial (cross-border shopping), and dominance of center means other areas become protecive of own idenity (regional idenity).
