Examine how people feel, think, and act in a scientific manner. Avoid relying exclusively on out intuition and common sense. Overconfidence- sometimes we think we know more than we actually know. Critical thinking- does not accept arguments and conclusions blindly. Examines assumptions, discerns hidden values, evaluates evidence, and assess conclusions. Psychologists use the scientific method to construct theories that organize, summarize, and simplify observations. Negative relation- they go in different directions. Positive relation- they go in the same direction. Neuron: dendrites- receive messages from other cells. Pulling messages and either saying stop or go: axon- passes messages away from cell body to other neurons. Neurons receive excitatory and inhibitory signals from many others.
