Socrates did not die after he was convinced because the athenians made the trip to delos and there were no execution. Pleasure from being released from the chains, pain from the execution. Socrates started writing poetry about aesop"s fables because a dream kept telling him to. Socrates says philosophers should welcome death, but not suicide, because we are in the possessions of gods, we should not harm ourselves. There is an afterlife in heaven and in hell. Philosophers should spend their whole life preparing for death so they shouldn"t be scared. Socrates believes death is separation between soul and body. Cebes doesn"t agree that the soul survives after the body dies. Sticks and stones are equal to some but unequal to others theory of forms. After a break, simmias & cebes can"t believe socrates statements. Theory of recollection a musical instrument"s attunement cannot exist before the instrument is made.
