To taste: abdominal pain, distension, and diarrhea, serious adverse effects: seizures (rare), agranulocytosis, angioedema. Retroviruses -- hiv: acyclovir, treats hsv-1 and hsv-2 (most common drug for this), effective only at high doses for cmv and varicella zoster, 5-10 days of po, neonatal not associated with teratogenic effects.
