Texture: the perceived relationship of simultaneous musical sounds. Monophony: literally a single sound the simplest musical texture. Biophonic singing: a singing technique of inner asian origin in which 2 tones, the fundamental and overtone are made audible simultaneously by a single singer, also known as harmonic singing. Homophony: musical texture as in the western hymn, where the part performs different pitches but move in the same rhythm. Heterophony: a musical texture in which 2 or more parts second almost the same melody at almost at the same time often with the same parts ornamented differently. Polyphony: a musical texture in which the parts move in contrasting directions as opposed to homophony. Biophonic textures have 2 distinct lines, the lower line a drone pitch, the other performs a more elaborate melody above it. Featured in lg 11,12 as well as khoomei. Homophony is the same sounding texture where melody is supported by harmony.
