Human communication is the process of stimulating meaning in the mind of another through verbal and nonverbal messages. A systematic process in which people interact with and through symbols to create and interpret meanings. Definition in four parts: systematic interrelated parts affect one another, process dynamic and ongoing, symbols abstract representations of things, meanings significance we place on something. Source: the person(s) who creates the message and chooses one or more channels for sending it. Receiver: the individual(s) for whom the message is intended. Channel: the means through which the message is shared. Noise: distraction/interference that affects how the message is received. Feedback: the receiver"s response and reaction to a message. Context: the situation in which communication takes place. Interpersonal communication between people on an individual-to-individual basis. Small group 3 to 15 who come together to communicate. Persuasion the act of causing people to do or believe something. Public speaking delivered to audience of more than 15 people.
