Public communication: the process of preparing and delivering a message to an audience. Talking to yourself in the mirror to achieve a specific purpose. Source: the person(s) who creates the message and chooses one or more channels for sending it. Encoding: the process of using cognitive skills to create a message ready for transmission to receivers. Channel: the means through which the message is shared. Tactile - giving someone a hug or a hand shake. Receiver: the individual(s) for whom the message is intended. Only meant for the person we intended it to go to. Decoding: the process of using cognitive skills to interpret the message. Feedback: the receiver"s response to a message. Noise: distraction/interference that affects how the message is received. Psychological noise - having something on your mind or our preconceived noise (beliefs)
