Overall, most people still expect to get married at some point. One of the major changes is single parent households kids having divorced parent. Tension between traditional gender norms, fertility expectation, marriage custom, individualism, unions, etc. Family formation and dissolution contains common law, cohabitation, same ex marriage . Simply the number of people getting married in a year divided by mid-year target population. Age structure, different places consist of different composition. Average age at marriage is seen as an indicator but not precisely descriptive. Just understand why the denominator and the figures are different to better reflect the possibility of people getting married or whatever.
