Question: While studying membrane asymmetry in a mutant cell, you find that is NO asymmetry to the membrane phospholipids. Suggest at least 2 possible reasons for this and why the could lead to a loss of asymmetry.

The beginning of my answer is right but my justification is wrong. HELP PLEASE

Membrane asymmetry is the strategic placement of phospholipids on either the cytoplasmic or the exoplasmic faces, depending on their funciton. So if a cell has no asymmetry, then something occured during mitosis. Reasons: 1) defect ER or golgi apparatus; the phospholipids would not be sent to the correct destinations 2) incorrect/altred DNA; this would casue for coding of incorrect polypeptides.messafes which wouldnt generate the proper distribution of phopholipids.
