The following questions are based on the WHO’s Global Burden of Disease Report, 2004, Part 3 Disease Incidence, Prevalence and Disability (http://www.who.int/healthinfo/global_burden_disease/GBD_report_2004update_part3.pdf). What is the essential difference between prevalence & incidence? Why do we need 2 different measures? Couldn't we just use one instead? And if so, which one would you pick?The last paragraph on page 29 states “Variations across regions in the risk of cancer are best shown using age-standardized incidence”
