The initial conditions tell us that velocity is positive, acceleration negative.
Due to constant acceleration, velocity will decrease and in time (5s) become zero.
But (and here is where the misconception can kick in) after reaching zero, being still under constant acceleration, it will become negative,
(this means the object will begin motion leftwards, in the   direction),and in time become more and more negative(speed increases in the negative direction)
The answer is that the object will slow down, momentarily stopping, then pick up speed moving to the left.
