Background and context
Density-dependent population factors are those that control growth and mortality rates based on population density at a specific moment. The factors that are density-dependent are biotic. Predation, interspecific and intraspecific competition, waste accumulation, and illnesses are all examples of this (caused by parasites). It's been discovered that the higher the population density, the higher the death rate.
