Box plot is graphical representation of the data. The concentration of the data can be well understood from the box plots. The box plot shows how far the extreme values are from rest of the data. The box plot is based on minimum, first quartile, median, third quartile and maximum value of the data set.

A box plot can be useful for determining the skewness of the data. A data is symmetric if the median is roughly in the middle of the box. If the longer part of the box is to the right of the median then the data is right-skewed. If the longer part of the box is to the left of the median then the data is left-skewed.
