In general when the light ray travelling from an object gets reflected from the mirror and we see the image of the particular object. So for the observer it is like the ray is from behind the mirror. This type of image is called as virtual image. Now the lens should be focused from the image formed virtually behind the mirror. Lens takes photo of whatever it sees. It is similar to our eyes. We have the object distance u = 3.1 cm. Distance of the image formed in plane mirror is equal to distance of the object from the mirror.
