Consider a particle of mass m moving in a potentialconsisting of 1-dimension well having depth V0 extending from x = 0to x = a, having an infinite wall at x = 0 and vanishingfor x > a.
a) Find the transcendental equation which determines theallowed bound state energies.
b) What is the allowed range of values for V0 such that thewell contains 3 and only 3 bound states?
I have the solution exp(2(iq+k)a) = ((k-iq)/(k+iq))^2 where k= sqrt(-2mE/hbar^2) and q = sqrt(2m(E+V0)/hbar^2). I don't know howto find the transcendental equation from this. Please be specificin any identities you use. Thank you
