Vocal methods (mus 1801) is a foundations course designed to provide an opportunity for students to develop their unique expressive skills. Students will explore the fundamentals of singing, including (but not limited to) voice function, breath control, tone production, diction (basics of the international phonetic. The format of the class shall consist of a balance of lecture and performance. This course is a pre-requisite for choral conducting (mus 233). Note: unless you have either the requisites for this course or written special permission from your dean to enroll in it, you may be removed from this course and it will be deleted from your record. You will receive no adjustment to your fees in the event that you are dropped from a course for failing to have the necessary prerequisites. By the end of this course students will be able to: Demonstrate a knowledge of the fundamentals of singing through appropriate use of vocal.
