All recreational facilities should be made accessible to people with disabilities. Not only physical disabilities, but also mental/developmental disabilities, etc. The purpose of recreation therapy is to enable all individuals to achieve quality of life and optimal health through meaningful experiences in recreation and leisure. In canadian charter of rights and freedom, all people are equal and should have every opportunity as everyone else. What is therapeutic recreation: a process that uses functional intervention, education and recreation participation. Some may need segregated activities in order to become comfortable with community activities: to enable persons with disabilities to acquire and/or maintain the skills, knowledge and behaviours.
