Criteria for global coherence in a life story cont Temporal orderings of events: preschool and beyond. Emergence of narrative self in late preschool as stories that are not integrated. Cultural concept of biography appears by about age 10. Linked to identity (erikson), formal operations (piaget), social expectations (e. g. , biographical representations). People expect you to be able to tell your life story by this time. Suggests that adolescence do things that children of younger ages that do not that. Proves their advanced level of telling a life story and developing/forming their identity and making understand of their life. Complex thematic interpretations in mid- to late adolescence and beyond. Individual development and social change stewart and healy. Model of how social change and individual lives might be linked. Events that happen in society can effect individuals lives such as how they live and what is good and bad.
