Document Summary
Hltc15 introduction to quantitative and qualitative health research methodologies. Lecture 11: mixed methods & multidisciplinary research (chapter 16 & 17) A mm design is a procedure for collecting, analyzing, and mixing both quantitative and qualitative research and methods in a single study to understand a research problem. To utilize this design effectively, you must understand both quantitative and qualitative research. Seeks convergence, corroboration, correspondence of results from different methods. Seeks elaboration, enhancement, illustration, clarification of the results, from one method with the result from the other method. Seeks to use the results from one method to help develop or inform the other method where development is broadly constructed to include sampling and implementation, as well as measurement decisions. Seeks the discovery of paradox and contradiction, new perspectives of frameworks, the recasting of questions or results from one method with questions or results from the other method.
