Challenger parties muslim brotherhood, young egypt/socialist party, communist party. Defection from democracy (conservative parties): king, british influence, intimidation. Defection from democracy (challenger parties): strikes, demonstrations. Unstable systems a coup d" tat in 1952. Mustafa kemal formed the people"s republican party.
