Scan the brain during language procedures and see what sides of the brain are activated. Back part of the brain is important for sensory. Damage to broca"s aphasia does not allow one to speak, or sign language and writing may be also be impaired. Some had damage to broca"s aphasia, but all had insula damage. Severe: incredible difficult to produce language (may become mute) Use lots of content words when they have this condition. Porosity is impaired, unable to vary tone of language. Impaired language comprehension (wernike"s): able to speak but language does not make sense. Paraphasias: speaking, but no words, a language mistake. Conduction aphasia: cannot repeat exactly what a person has just said. Right hemisphere does contribute to language but in different ways. Being able to take an idea and reduce it to something simpler.
